Thirteen Years of Failure

Thirteen Years of Failure is a series of photographs in response to my experience growing up in Barnsley and experiencing firsthand the effects of a town left in continuous disarray by the British Government.

As a post-industrial northern town struggling economically, these images are my personal documentation of Barnsley as a space characterised by financial hardship. With Barnsley, a place I felt had failed me throughout my teenage years, this project negotiates a sense of home. As an adult, I understand and accept that the government's lack of investment in my hometown limited my opportunities as a young person.
