Tarnished

Tarnished draws on the visual metaphor of female statues burnished by repeated, unsolicited touch. Just as these statues bear the marks of unwanted contact, objectification and violence so do countless women, leaving them not just physically affected but emotionally and psychologically tarnished in ways that are not always visible. The work materializes this concept through garments cast in plaster, embodying both vulnerability and endurance. This project aims to not only bring awareness but to spark critical conversations and challenge societal standards that continue to normalize and enable the treatment of women’s bodies as public property.
