CHOICE
Benefit scrounger, CHAV, common. All terms used against the working-class. My project ‘CHOICE’ is an exploration of working-class lived experiences including my own, that aims to unpack stereotypes/representations of working-class people. As Stuart Hall (2017) suggests visual representation doesn’t always reflect the truth of the people within the imagery. Therefore, through collaboration with my models I have found an alternative way to represent the working-class that allows them to choose how they want to be represented and gives them a voice to express their truth.
